Thirty

5 October 2026 · PERFUMERY · PRESERVATION · ARCHIVE

Status: Entered into the House archive
Authority: The House of Shaneela
Prepared by: Samir Al-Dhākir, Archivist of Memory
Provenance: A contemporary record of the extent of the Founding Collection.
Record
Let the extent of the founding be entered plainly.
Thirty scented artefacts.
Five founding compositions.
Together, they hold
the first material expression
of the House’s imagined Realm.
The number belongs to this beginning.
Whatever the House may create in years to come,
the Founding Collection retains its boundary.
There will never be a thirty-first
within this founding body of work.

Gold seals rest beside purple silk, an imagined study of counting and keeping.
I. The Extent of the Collection
A collection requires a clear account
of what belongs within it.
Its name gathers the works together.
Its extent gives that name
a form that can be remembered.
Thirty is the measure entered here.
Some artefacts may remain
within the House archive.
Others may pass into custodianship.
Their places may change.
Their belonging to the Founding Collection
remains part of their history.
II. Five Scented Worlds
The five compositions give fragrance
to different places within the Realm.
A garden.
A spring.
A city of roses.
A concealed night.
A poem with more than one truth.
Through their differences,
the Golden Veil House Accord
continues its olfactive thread.
Each composition holds its own atmosphere.
Together, they establish
the first scented vocabulary
through which the House may be encountered.
Thirty artefacts carry
these five worlds into material form.
III. What the Number Holds
The collective number
must leave room for the individual work.
An artefact has a physical presence.
A form that can be observed.
A history that may lengthen
through care and keeping.
To remember the collection faithfully
is to retain sight
of the works that compose it.
The whole requires its count.
Each work requires attention.
Both belong
to the responsibility of the archive.
Closing Record
Let thirty remain
the recorded extent of the founding.
Let the five compositions
retain their names.
Let each artefact remain recognisable
within the body of work
to which it belongs.
The House will continue its story.
This beginning
will keep its measure.
